IKEA Nightstand DIY Hack

Taking the already cute IKEA Tarva nightstands and matching them to our vintage-boho vibe!

This was such a fun and easy IKEA hack! We found these two Tarva nightstands and knew we would be able to transform them into the nightstands of our dreams! We had previously refinished a vintage MCM dresser–which we love–that sits across from our bed, and we wanted the nightstands to match as closely as possible to make it look like a “bedroom set”.

To get the matching feel of our dresser, we cut off the overhang of the top of the nightstand. This allowed the top to sit flush with the sides.

We also decided to trim down the sides of the drawer, so that it would sit inside instead of out, to also match the vibe of our dresser. We had to measure and move back the sliding hardware mechanisms on the inside of the drawers for this to work, but it paid off to do this tiny detail because it looks amazing.

We tapered all four legs of each of the dressers to give the bottom more of an elegant finish, which we’re so happy we did because we feel it changed the look of the nightstands perfectly!

We finished off with a quick sand, and matching stain and hardware, and voila! The most adorable matching nightstands to tie in the vintage-boho vibe of our house.

Check out the video below on how we did it!
